Wow, I can't believe it's been a year since my last article. I've been working on a website for my church and maintaining it (we even have forums...just need people now ;) ) so I haven't been able to post here.
And this summer, I found out my wife was pregnant. Yes, I was taken completely by surprise and got hit with the responsibility of it all pretty quickly. This will be our first child, and it comes at a time when I was pretty sure we would never have kids.
We had our first ultrasound done, and I couldn't believe that a baby's heart beats at 175 beats a minute. That's almost as fast as mine when someone yells "free chocolate" in my presence. ;)
My biggest concern, beyond the usual things like being healthy and all, is making sure I do a good job raising him or her as a Christian. In today's world, that's not an easy thing, especially since many of those who consider themselves tolerant have a hatred for Christianity that almost rivals that of the Jews who stoned Stephen.
At least I have a few years before I really have to worry about it, but by then I should have had plenty of opportunity to read what others have already gone through and hopefully learn from them.
First lesson: let the kid run around naked all day on a tile floor and I won't have to do diapers. I can just mop it up. :D
Or is this the time when I'm supposed to mimic the "real men" of the world and run away screaming "not my kid?"
